Microsoft Speech Server leverages industry standards such as SQL and Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS), as well as speech components like Speech Engine Services (SES) and Telephony Application Services (TAS). It supports the Speech Application Language Tags (SALT) markup language, which extends existing markup languages such as HTML, XHTML, and XML to provide voice access to web-based applications.
Speech Server 2007 promises to include full support for SALT and VoiceXML to allow customers write WWC VoiceXML 2.1-compliant applications using Microsoft Visual Studio ® 2005 and deploy those applications, or existing VoiceXML 2.1-compliant applications. It also promises to a powerful Microsoft .NET Framework-based API for low-level access to core Speech Server functionalities so that companies can build applications on the Speech Server API using widely known programming languages such as JavaScript and C#. |
